Idella Glenn
Serving as VCU’s Director for Diversity Education and Retention Initiatives, Idella has over 23 years of higher education experience. Within the Division of Inclusive Excellence the area of diversity and inclusion education, research, and scholarship focuses on infusing diversity and inclusion into all aspects of university life. We aid campus constituents by providing education and support to create a campus community that maximizes the benefits of a diverse learning environment.
Idella spent 18 years at Furman University serving as Asst. VP for Student Development, Asst. Dean for Diversity and Inclusion, and Director of Multicultural Affairs. Prior to Furman, Idella served as the Records Manager (Registrar) at Spartanburg Community College.
Idella earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science/math from Furman University (1986), and a master’s in Higher Education Administration from the University of South Carolina (1996). She earned a Ph. D. in Educational Leadership from Clemson University in 2008
