1:00-3:30pm
Online via Zoom
Registration Deadline: May 7, 2020
Description:
VCIC will work with middle- and upper-school educators from independent schools to strategize ways to effectively create and support student affinity groups. Participants will have the opportunity to explore issues of diversity within themselves and will be able to better understand how their own identities can affect their work as members of their respective school communities. They will also consider best practices to support their students in conversations around diversity and inclusion.
By the completion of the workshop, participants will:
-
Develop strategies for creating supportive learning and social environments;
-
Examine the role of prejudice and advantage, and how these dynamics impact belonging at their schools;
-
Gain skills for building more effective relationships with students, parents/guardians, and the community; and
-
Express an increased awareness of what actions are best to create a more inclusive school.
Cost: $10 (No lunch!) for members; $50 for non-members
Note:
No more than 2 people per school, as space is limited. We will use Zoom as the platform. Once registration is closed, a Zoom invitation will follow.
